Air Passenger Durty (APD) Gets Universal Slamming

Air Passenger Duty will increase from 1st November 2009, with a further increase in November 2010. For short haul (up to 2000 miles) economy class increases from £40.00 to £45.00, and for premium class from £80.00 to £90.00. From November 2010 these figures rise to £60.00 and £120.00.

For journeys (between 4,001 and 6,000 miles) the figures for economy and premium class rise to £50.00 and £100.00, and to £75.00 and £150.00 from November 2010.

Journey’s in excess of 6,000 miles rise to £55.00 for economy and £110.00 for premium class, and from November 2010, to £85.00 and £170.00.

ABTA have started an online petition asking the government to change its mind about APD. It remains to be seen whether the government will rethink.
